Calgary police are searching for a suspect who set fire to a nativity scene at the Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Roman Catholic Parish in northeast Calgary. The incident, captured on security footage on the evening of April 21, shows a man approaching the scene, throwing an object, and fleeing as flames erupt. Firefighters quickly extinguished the blaze, which caused minor damage to the church. A similar event occurred the previous night, also involving an object being thrown to start a fire. The police hate crime unit is investigating, though the motive behind the arson remains unclear.
