Canada Invests $574 Million in Biomanufacturing to Boost Domestic Vaccine Production

The Canadian government is investing nearly $574 million in 19 projects across 14 research institutions to bolster the country's biomanufacturing and life sciences sector. Announced by Minister Soraya Martinez Ferrada, this funding is part of the ongoing Canada Biomedical Research Fund and Biosciences Research Infrastructure Fund initiatives. These projects will advance the development of made-in-Canada vaccines, therapeutics, and diagnostic tools, enhancing Canada's readiness for health emergencies and future pandemics. The investment supports a variety of innovations, including new antibody therapies, RNA vaccines, rapid diagnostic technologies, and the use of AI in antibiotic development. This strategic funding aims to strengthen Canada's resilience in public health and economic sectors by ensuring a stable supply of life-saving treatments and advancing scientific research.
