Tornado Warnings Issued as Severe Thunderstorms Hit Southern Ontario

Severe thunderstorms swept through southern Ontario on Wednesday, prompting several weather advisories, including tornado warnings. Environment Canada tracked storms north of the GTA capable of producing tornadoes, covering areas like Newmarket and Georgina. Residents were warned of a "dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation" with possible damaging winds, large hail, and intense rainfall. Warnings lifted after half an hour, but severe thunderstorm watches remained for Toronto and other regions. Gusts up to 100 km/h and "toonie-sized hail" were reported, with a risk of tornadoes. Thunderstorms were expected to weaken by evening. Sunny weather is forecast for Thursday in Toronto with a high of 25°C.
